behind the scenes

As I was listening to my client describe her daughter's up coming wedding to me earlier today, I couldn't help but feel a little jealous. It was a fairy tale setting for a fairy tale beginning! They had e v e r y t h i n g you could imagine, + m o r e! Then my client started describing how stressed she was, even though she knew it would be worth it in the end. She said something that caught me off guard a little bit, she said
"I blame it all on Pinterest, + that darn social media!!! It makes that generation think they need to be perfect, have everything perfect, + capture every perfect moment so they can share it. Well what about all of these imperfect, before the wedding moments? You rarely, if ever, see the spilled milk from this morning, or the box colored hair gone wrong (her daughter, the one getting married, came to me with this problem only a couple weeks ago). Those are the real life moments that are fun to hear about."
The truth is just that, we don't see the behind the scenes of everybody's life. We are all on different paths and are all faced with different challenges. When my friends or family post things that I might be a little jealous of, I'm going to be happy for them, + try my hardest to let those feelings of jealousy be left behind. We can't compare our selves to what everyone else has or portrays to have. I'm thankful for my client's sweet reminder today.
Here are a few behind the scene moments from the Danklef household. :)

t i m e

For the last two weeks our little family has done nothing but spend time together every chance we get. Colby + I are so busy, + always get caught up in our worldly lives, that we forget to set apart family time. This last week we refurbished two coffee tables, played softball, went to the gym, started a big house project, grocery shopped + have had home cooked meals ALMOST every night! + to be honest, I'm not even sick of those two crazies yet. It is crazy tho how just a little time together makes you appreciate + love one another just that much more!

ALSO..... for mothers day I was incredibly spoiled + got to finish furnishing my upstairs! Ya..., see that ottoman! Colby + I turned our coffee table into that. + it was incredibly difficult, but we didn't even get frustrated with each other once! + the cream couch! Well I have been wanting it for a while now but kept biting my tongue because I knew we needed a lot of other things first. When I got home from work on Saturday, it was placed nicely in our family room, just waiting for me to sit on! Oh that Colby...... :)

the little man's shower

With my parents house being under a little bit of construction (by little i mean a lot, like A LOT) The Danklef home has been the place to party! I was excited to be able to host my little sisters shower, + had a blast doing it. However, i couldn't have done any of it with out Mother and Melissa. Shelly is due July 1st, which is my birthday!, so i already can feel the connection between the little man + I!

"The Market at Park City" provided all the food of course
"Five Penny Floral" provided the bouquet of flowers (my left over anniversary flowers, win win!)
"June Pie" provided us with the 3 most amazingly delicious pies known to man! (NO JOKE)

Cadence was a riot + of course kept everyone laughing. Despite the rainy weather, we had a great turn out + even had fun all crammed into the family room area. I know I speak for my entire family when I say we are blessed to have such wonderful women in our lives. You are all beautiful examples to my sisters + I. We love you all very much!

Our "cheesy" love story

As Colby + I approach our up coming anniversary (four years....YAY!!!!) I can't help but sit + think about how far we have come or how much we have changed. I still remember the day I realized that Colby could be "the one".

"It was after hair school on a day in April. If I didn't have to work at the local Macy's grocery store after school, I always headed straight for my BOYFRIENDS house in Orem. We had just had the "DTR" talk + always had fun together. It usually involved me cuddling up to him + falling asleep while watching a movie (I would do school 8-4 + then usually worked 4-12, so naturally I was always so tired). But on this day he told me he wanted to take me somewhere + show me something. Excitedly, I hopped in his car, turned on my seat warmer, + we listened to "Iron + Wine" as we drove to our destination. We drove up through some neighborhoods in Orem + when we got there I was confused at what I was suppose to be looking at. He then pointed out the name of the street we were on, "Heather St" + the tree that covered the street sign, which was full of the most amazing pink blossoms I have ever seen! After a couple little smooches we decided to head back home. On our way home we some how got talking about our favorite foods. I told Colby how much I LOVED string cheese, + he told me back it was one of his favorites as well. Then we both, almost at the same time, said, "but it has to be the Western Family brand!" We were both shocked! + giggled! Later on down the road we both found out that at that moment we both realized we were in it for the long haul!"

We still to this day always have Western Family string cheese in our fridge. Like literally, I buy it in bulk from my dads store, + it sits in a huge card board box in our fridge. To be honest I would be at absolute ROCK BOTTOM with out him. It may not have seemed like a big deal to him, but the fact that he would go out of his way to show me such a simple beautiful thing that reminded him of me, showed me how much he cares. He cares for the simple things, + he cares for the unsimple things. When Colby loves something, it's never a simple kind of love, it is always with ALL of his ENORMOUS heart. Thank you so much for the rockiest, happiest, saddest, best four years of my life so far.

I Love you Colby! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY + here's to eternity :)
