Ninety Six Hours

Ninety-Six hours is not long enough. Sure it seems like a good amount of time when you put it in hours, + even when you put it in days (four days). But its not! It's not a good amount of time, at least not for a much needed family vacation. Colby, Cadence and I ventured up to the North West this weekend. Colby has family up there, + with a baby that grows up and changes everyday it is important for close family to see her as much as possible. However, with us both working as much as we can it's hard to take off more than Ninety-Six hours. So here's our Ninety-Six hours in a nut shell.
One - Twelve: We left for the airport Thursday night, after a long day of work for both of us. This was Cadences first time flying and our first time taking a baby. I was super anxious all day, knowing that it could go one of two ways, either awesome or not awesome. Can i just say, my baby rocked it (meaning no crying, no fussing, just sleeping and smiling)! Except for the fact that she had all day to go "number 2" + decided that she would take advantage of the hour and a half we were in the air (I don't recommend changing a baby diaper in those bathrooms, super hard, poo everywhere!). Other than that, the obnoxious TSA-carry-on-bag rules (we are too cheap to check our bags, even though it would make our lives so much easier), + the many times we were stared down + glared at for bringing a baby on a plane, our flight went smoothly. We arrived in Portland Oregon around eleven pm, (midnight our time) exhausted. Rented our periwinkle Subaru (only in Oregon), drove the fifteen minutes across the river to Grandmas house, and hit the sack!

Twelve - Sixty: These hours consisted of sleeping in, talking + getting caught up with family, meeting new family members (Ledger, the cutest chunkiest five month old), eating at Red Robin (we may or may not have eaten there twice in one day), visiting down town Portland, creating our own animal masks, tea parties, family pictures, shopping + eating popcorn while watching movies.

Sixty - Eighty Four: For those of you who don't know, the Oregon Coast has some of the most beautiful views this country has to offer. So we took advantage of what little time we had + saw a few of these amazing sites. Remember the classic movie "The Goonies", well we decided to be goonies for a day + make our own adventure. We started out with the gorgeous rocks, + the ocean. Then we made our way to Seaside, where we found an amazing candy shop, + Astoria. We actually stepped foot on the wonderful "Goondocks" (home of Brad + Mikey) where Steven Spielberg directed his very first movie in 1985 (my mother has taught me to always educate your self with the area you visit on vacations)! After our Goonie adventure we headed home for some grub at Colby's grandmas house. YUM YUM!!!

Eighty Four - Ninety Six: Colby's niece Ashlyn had school Monday morning. It was the beginning of their national reading week, which they started out with a Green Eggs + Ham breakfast! She invited me + I have never been more excited to go to an elementary school! So I got to start my week eating school lunch (the best way to start off a week if you ask me). Colby and I then used our free Grandma babysitting and went off to a movie by ourselves (which we rarely do anymore). When the movie was over we had just enough time to pack, return our periwinkle Subaru (only in Oregon), go through the annoying security, find our gate, + board our plane. This time Cadence had her own seat, + no mess in her pants (sigh of relief). We were tired when we got home + were all very excited to sleep in our own beds (Cadence really did have the biggest smile on her face when I laid her in her crib).

We had a wonderful trip, + enjoyed seeing all our family! We would like to thank everyone who made our short time there so wonderful! We love you all. But as you can see Ninety Six Hours is just not enough time! Next time we will be doubling our hours!

Much Love <3
